Day 76 of 1,461 (or 2,922)

  • Jefferson Beauregard Sessions III is poised to reverse whatever reforms in policing have come about over the last few years. This is a disaster.
  • Jon Ossoff is running into some challenges as the Republicans have gotten scared. Send him 5$ if you can.
  • Stephen Bannon is no longer on the National Security Council. Sometimes there is good news.
  • Trump is probably going to move to screwing up NAFTA. The list of proposed fixes sounds exactly like the TPP, though worse. Oh joy.
  • Neil Gorsuch, among his other sins, is a plagiarist. He must not be confirmed.
  • Kirsten Gillibrand was best known in 2009 for being a Blue Dog and NOT CAROLINE KENNEDY. She has done spectacularly since then, and would be a good candidate for president.
  • Politics as theater. Politics as horse race. Politics as spectacle. Politics as a game. Whatever you call it, it must die, or people will.
  • Driftglass has been fighting the good fight against Both-Siderism and David Brooks for a long, long time. Read his latest.
  • Roger Ailes. Bill O’Reilly. Fox News. How much damage have they caused? How many lives have they destroyed?
  • Of course Trump defended O’Reilly. He has never not done the worst thing.
  • Alexandra Petri has written the only profile of defiant Trump voters that you’ll ever need to read for the rest of time.
  • Fight for 15$ and Black Lives Matter are continuing their collaboration.
  • I’m a big fan of the planet Earth, but when it comes to six-sided figures, Saturn has us beat: “Saturn’s hexagon.”
